Vintage Talent

Bernardo sandals have been photographed by the most influential fashion photographers including Helmut Newton, Melvin Sokolsky, Irving Penn, Bert  Stern, and others.  It was Richard Avedon, one of fashion’s greatest photographers, who came upon the Roman foot sculpture while on a fashion shoot, which Bernardo later adopted as its logo in 1955.  Bernardo shoes and sandals have been worn by the 20th century’s greatest talents–models, actresses, and singers such as Iris Bianchi, Ann Turkel, Carly Simon, Jean Shrimpton, Jane Birkin, and Twiggy.  Jackie Kennedy is said to have owned 16 colors of the same pair of Bernardos.
